The term Moxie started life as a soft drink in 1876. It was originally marketed as “nerve food, guaranteed to cure multiple ills, including loss of manhood, paralysis and softening of the brain”. Due to an aggressive marketing campaign, Moxie was America’s favorite soft drink until the 1920’s, when Coca-Cola surpassed it. It was this aggressive marketing campaign that prompted America to make Moxie a part of the English language. Slogans such as “What this country needs is plenty of Moxie” led to our current definition: “the attribute to bravely face difficulty with spirit and courage”.

Moxie proudly follows suit in this tradition. Instead of rivaling the many sports bars and grills in the area, our goal was to create a comfortable place where you can wear that little black dress, get a great martini and some quality food without having to put plastic over your stilettos. Our menu boasts some of the finest cuisine in the neighborhood made from top quality ingredients. Here, there are no shortcuts. We at Moxie believe that food should be enjoyed with quality people, and that is what you will find dining with us.

We believe that meals are best enjoyed when shared among friends, and much like tapas, our portions are sized and priced accordingly. The idea is that each individual can order and sample two or three different dishes throughout the meal, satisfying each distinguishable palate at the table. You may walk into Moxie not knowing what it is all about, but when you leave, you’ll definitely leave with a little more of it!
